Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

When Dr. Waite was 8 years old, he had a school assignment to write a paper about what he wanted to be when he grew up. In it, he talked about being a dentist who lived and practiced in Colorado. This was interesting because he had never mentioned dentistry at that point, nor had he ever been to Colorado. It is very ironic that both things came true!

Also, Dr. Waite had a wonderful dentist at the time who was a friend of the family. His son was one of Dr. Waite’s good friends, so he spent time with him not only as a dental patient but also on a personal level. He was very caring, friendly, and able to provide well for his family, not just financially, but also with his time due to the flexibility the profession provided.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Waite received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas in 2004. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and an Associate of General Studies from Weber State University.

Dr. Waite believes in persistently advancing his clinical skills through continuing education in order to better serve you. To date, he has completed several courses focused on cosmetic dentistry, facial esthetics, sleep apnea treatment, gum recession surgical techniques, and dental implants. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and one of only a few dentists in Colorado Springs who has received advanced training in biomimetic dentistry. This philosophy and technique not only allows him to preserve more of your natural tooth structure but also reconstruct compromised teeth in a way that mimics nature. This creates longer-lasting dental health, which is Dr. Waite’s main concern.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Waite and his wife, Kirsten, have been married for over 27 years, and they have six children (four daughters and two sons). Most of his free time is spent with family, supporting his kids in their various sporting, musical, and social activities. As a family, they love to go hiking in the summer, skiing in the winter, and travel both domestically and internationally. Dr. Waite is also an avid BYU sports fan.

Fun fact: Dr. Waite lived in São Paulo, Brazil, for two years and speaks fluent Portuguese!
